the glacial and the now and the field

First post. A simple thing, a howdy. 

Somehow it took me twenty years to work up the wherewithal to say hi. 

I could ask why I thought I had to get it so right, or know more, or prove more. But whatever the answers are, they don’t matter. This is great timing! This is the right time for me to show up, because this is how long it took me to be ready to show up!

The initial whisper of I want to share (to show what I know) needed a glacial crawl of years to evolve into the hum of I want to share (to expand love in the universe). 

Now it feels clean and clear: I want to share to expand love in the universe. And the what of what I want to share has to do with a where. 

The place where I tend to hang out most is in the wild, gorgeous, thorny field where creative expression meets spiritual growth. Here I feel most alive, most versed and true-- aligned with Spirit and a deep sense of purpose. Here I lose myself.

Adventurers, rovers, experimenters--I think our time is coming! Many of us are meant to gather wisdom through breadth of experience. It used to pain me, not to be built for becoming an expert at any one thing. Somehow while I wasn't looking (yet also at a glacial pace) I realized how deeply grounded I am: my depth is my unstoppable connection to the field.

Now I think in terms of rabbit holes: I happen to dig lots of them, not to build fully tricked-out warrens for hunkering down in, but to explore and experience many beautiful bits of terrain. Lately it occurred to me that all those little holes—always scuffled out with a thirst for the sublime—are doing the important work of aerating the ground of that gorgeous field I love so much. 

So for the purposes of this blog and its inception and evolution, all is rooted in the field itself: creative life, spiritual life, getting out of your own way. Finding expression, celebrating mystery, trying to say. And, in the trying (process not product), embodying--more and more effortlessly--Spirit, Love, God, Awareness, Oneness--whatever you choose to call it. (You can also call it JOY.)

That’s my umbrella. What shakes out through and under and around, here on these pages, is the adventure. Who knows where my stringing together of words and worlds might lead? (It’s apparent to me by now that when I’m at my most graceful in the creative dance, I am not the leader.) My aim is to be as clear a vehicle as I can for what wants expressing. To be full of story, to give up story, to lose myself to nobody, to offer up what I have, to SAY and to BE. Pure channel, yet still me. 

I’ll be sharing thoughts, impressions, poems and essays.

Resources for cultivating the creative/spiritual life (and if you feel like these are two different paths and only one or the other grabs you, no worries--really, they tend to intertwine themselves).

Insights on the art of surrender, on creative flow, on loosening your grip on preference, on suffering less.

Pointings toward a problem-free life (for real—peace! freedom! joy! boundlessness!).

Pointings toward collaborating with your most aligned self--this changes the world! 

Practical ways to go about your craft--even if you’re not crafty, and all you want to create is more happiness. :)

And all manner of juicy, real-life, as-yet unknowns--the unforeseeable, sayable adventures of lisa v. nobody.

Maybe this will provide a little contemplation spot for you, a being space--invitation and inspiration. Maybe it will create a little spaciousness, a little connection. Maybe it will make you laugh and let go of whatever you thought you had to keep worrying over. Maybe we'll all remember to breathe and to be.
